Thomas Richard Post, born April 18, 1945, passed away on Tuesday, November 28th surrounded by family.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Kathleen Post (nee Walsh), four children: Richard Post (Katrina), Gina Post Narciso (Eugene), Christopher Post (Tara), Gabrielle Post Malmon (Matthew), siblings: Dick Post (Barbara) and Paddy Burns (Bob), grandchildren: Bella Narciso, Mia Narciso, Erik Post, Chance Narciso, Elliana Post and Indy Narciso, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his father, Richard A Post, his mother, Catherine Small (nee Shinners), his beloved aunt, Eleanor Post and his sister, Sharon Nestlehut.
Tom grew up in the Beverly neighborhood and reminisced about it often. He attended St. Barnabas Grammar School and Mt. Carmel High School where he was a three-sport athlete playing football, basketball and baseball (but we probably didn’t need to tell you that). Football was by far his favorite sport and he made his children recite the Mt. Carmel fight song before they could pronounce the words “Dad” or “Mom.”
In 1968, Tom was drafted into the Army and courageously served two tours in Vietnam where he rose to the rank of Sergeant and left the service a decorated Veteran.
Tom married the love of his life, Kathy, in 1970 and started his civilian career with Eastern Airlines. He ultimately segued into Real Estate where he joined his brother, Dick, for many years. During this time, Tom resided with his family in Palos Park, IL where he and Kathy raised their four children.
Later in life, Tom dedicated his time to the Palos Lions Club. He loved to serve the community and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow Lions. In 2019, Tom was awarded the Melvin Jones award for his exemplary service to the club and community.
Tom was a kind man who will be missed by all who knew him, including his many four-legged friends. To honor Tom, the family is planning a Celebration of Life in the Jan/Feb timeframe.
